Welcome to DIARY PROMPTS! The first Saturday (or Sunday) of the month, paid subscribers will receive prompts (for writing, drawing, art-making, tarot-card pulling) around a theme or skill related to healing. This month’s theme is AUTHENTICITY. Then, you’re invited to join our live meet up, DIARY CLUB, on July 25th from 3-4:30pm PDT / 5-6:30pm CDT / 6-7:30pm EDT. We’ll talk about the prompts for July, share our reflections together, and bask in the magic of peer support and community. Zoom info is at the bottom of this post.

During our last DIARY CLUB, folks shared their core values, and one that kept coming up was AUTHENTICITY. This makes me think of a viral tweet that was going around:

There are so many ways that trauma disconnects us from our authentic selves. All too often, in order to survive and get our core needs met, we have to abandon ourselves — or at least the parts of us that have been deemed unlovable. We learn to appease and people please, to say we’re okay when really we’re not. Our survival responses — and whatever parts of us remain — become our whole personality. Or so we think.

Healing, then, is a journey back to ourselves. A homecoming. My friend Shai recently shared a post on Instagram, that really hit me hard: “One of the clearest signs of a regulated nervous system is authenticity, not constant calm.” In the caption, she continues: “When your nervous system feels safe, you stop performing that everything is ‘okay’ and start being yourself.”

This month’s prompts are here to help you connect back to your authenticity / figure out what it even looks like to be your authentic self.
